Choose Your Hard: The Entrepreneurial Path of Resilience

One of my all time favorite quotes comes from an unknown author but it has always resonated with me.  The quote has become known as “Choose your Hard”. The quote goes:

“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.

Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.

Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.

Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.

Life will never be easy. It will always be hard. But we can choose our hard.

Choose wisely.”

In the world of business, this quote takes on a profound significance. As an entrepreneur, you constantly face a myriad of challenges, each with its own set of hardships. The journey of building a brand is filled with obstacles, but it is in navigating these difficulties that the true essence of success is revealed.

Growing a Brand is Hard. Having a brand that isn’t growing is hard!
For example Growing your brand is undeniably challenging. It demands innovation, strategic planning, and the ability to adapt to an ever-evolving market. Yet, consider the alternative – having a failing brand. The struggle to regain market trust, the potential loss of loyal customers, and the emotional toll of witnessing your creation falter can be equally, if not more, demanding. Choose your hard!

As the owner of AZEE Branding Solutions, I’ve witnessed the resilience required to turn a struggling brand into a thriving one. It’s hard work, but it’s a chosen hardship that reaps rewards beyond measure. Every setback becomes a lesson, every challenge an opportunity for growth.

Getting rich is hard. Staying poor is hard.
Being rich often involves years of dedication, strategic financial planning, and a relentless pursuit of opportunities. It’s hard work, but the rewards can be financial security, the ability to invest in your dreams, and the freedom to shape your destiny. On the flip side, being poor comes with its own set of hardships – the struggle to make ends meet, limited resources, and the stress that accompanies financial instability. Choose your hard!

In the world of business, financial success is often a result of the hard choices made – disciplined spending, wise investments, and a commitment to long-term goals. Choosing the path of financial success might be challenging, but it opens doors to possibilities that the alternative does not.

Success is hard. Failure is hard.
Success is the culmination of relentless effort, overcoming failures, and staying committed to your vision. It’s the result of choosing the hard path of perseverance, resilience, and continuous improvement. Failure, on the other hand, can be a bitter pill to swallow. It comes with its own hardships – the fear of starting anew, the potential loss of credibility, and the emotional toll it takes on an entrepreneur.

Embracing the challenges that come with success is a testament to an entrepreneur’s character. It requires facing uncertainties, learning from mistakes, and consistently striving for excellence. The alternative – the hardship of failing – is a path many wish to avoid but often find themselves on if they shy away from the difficulties that accompany success. Choose your hard!

Posting on Social Media is hard.  Growing your brand without Social Media is hard.
In the digital age, leveraging social media is undeniably challenging. Crafting engaging content, staying consistent, and navigating the ever-changing algorithms demand time and effort. However, the alternative – running a business without a social media presence – is equally challenging. Missing out on a vast audience, ignoring a powerful marketing tool, and failing to adapt to the modern business landscape can be detrimental to your brand.

Choosing the hard path of maintaining a robust social media strategy is an investment in your brand’s visibility and connection with your audience. It might be challenging, but the rewards in brand awareness, customer engagement, and market relevance make it a chosen hardship worth embracing. Choose your hard!

Owning a business is hard.  Working for someone else is hard.
Owning a business and working for yourself is an aspiration for many. It comes with its own set of challenges – the responsibility of decision-making, the uncertainty of income, and the need for self-discipline. However, working for someone else is no walk in the park either. Navigating office politics, adhering to someone else’s vision, and the potential lack of fulfillment in your work can be equally challenging.

Choosing the hard path of working for yourself requires determination, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of your goals. It’s an investment in your autonomy, passion, and the potential for limitless success.

My advice is Invest in Your Business: Choose the hard that leads to growth!

It’s easy to avoid the tasks that seem hard, to procrastinate on the strategic decisions, and to neglect the investments required for growth. Yet, as an entrepreneur, choosing the hard of growth is synonymous with choosing success.

Investing in your business – whether it’s time, money, or effort – is a conscious decision to face the challenges head-on. It’s the recognition that the hardships of today pave the way for the successes of tomorrow. Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

I encourage fellow business owners to embrace the hard things. Don’t take the easy way out because, in the world of entrepreneurship, the path less traveled often leads to the most significant rewards. Stop avoiding the tasks you know you should be doing for your business just because they are hard. Face them, conquer them, and watch your brand soar to new heights.

Choose your hard, and let the journey of resilience and triumph define your entrepreneurial legacy. Go out there and try something great, my friends and don’t take the easy way out.
